12 – 14 Day Class
(ASA 101, 103, 104, 105, 106, & 107 required)
The student will be able to skipper a sailing vessel on an extended offshore passages requiring celestial navigation. The student will learn the following skills: knowledge of long-term passage planning, offshore vessel selections, sail repair, offshore watch-keeping, emergency procedures, abandon ship protocols, safety, and seamanship. Plan to assist with cooking and cleaning. You may be hot berthing.
Our tentative two-week cruise plan for ASA 108 – Offshore Passage Making is to sail non-stop from our marina to a location in New England which may be Newport, RI or Martha’s Vineyard, MA or from our marina to Beaufort, NC. We will then have a brief layover before making the return passage to our marina. The weather forecast will determine the final destination.
